Virginia opened the MARFU playoffs with a dominating 75-15 victory over the visiting Hibernians from Pennsylvania. The win secures Virginia a spot in the MARFU semifinals, which will be contested on Saturday, May 1st in Blacksburg, VA.

Virginia showed up ready to play from the opening kickoff. Three minutes into the match, a Hibernians lineout deep in their defensive half was stolen by the Virginia pack. The ball made its way through the hands of fly half James Fealey to fullback Lucien Dimani, who fed wing Ken Duvall. Duvall outraced the Hibernians defense down the touchline to score in the corner. Fealey converted to give Virginia an early 7-0 lead. Virginia continued to dominate, but the Hibernians were gifted a try in the tenth minute when a dropped Virginia pass ended up in the hands of a Hibernians attacker. The converted try tied the score at 7-7. Almost immediately, however, Virginia regained the lead with a penalty kick by Fealey.

Virginia continued to pound the Hibernians defensive line. In the 18th minute, Virginia was awarded a lineout deep in Hibernians territory. Eight man Marc Breton caught the throw from hooker Luis Lucas, and the Virginia forwards drove the resulting maul to the Hibernians goal line, where lock Damien Blanchon touched down for the try. Fealey's conversion gave Virginia a 17-7 lead. In the 24th minute, Virginia was awarded another lineout deep in their offensive half. A loose ball was collected by lock Aaron Franke and passed to Fealey, who found wing Johnny McNulty crashing through for the try. Another conversion by Fealey put Virgina up 24-7. Virginia's domination of the lineouts continued just two minutes later. A Virginia lineout near midfield was fed to Fealey, who chipped the ball over the Hibernians defense to center Evan Davis. Davis passed to Duvall, who broke free for his second try of the match to stretch Virginia's lead to 29-7.

The Hibernians converted a penalty kick in the 30th minute, which was matched by a 25 meter drop goal by Fealey in the 38th minute. Virginia struck again at the stroke of half-time, when Lucas chipped the ball into the Hibernians try zone and beat the defense to dive on the ball. Fealey's conversion brought the half-time score to 39-10.

Virginia kept up its intensity to start the second half, creating a number of scoring opportunities in the first ten minutes. Their efforts were finally rewarded in the 53rd minute, when McNulty offloaded from a tackle to flanker Matt Pawlowicz, who outran the Hibernians defense for a try and a 44-10 lead. A few minutes later, the backs combined for another try. The ball was passed out wide near the touchline to Duvall, who broke back inside and passed to Dimani. Dimani offloaded to Fealey, who scored untouched. Fealey converted his own try to give Virginia a 51-10 lead. Virginia kept up the relentless pressure, scoring again almost immediately. Fealey chipped over the defense near midfield, and Davis collected the ball to score under the posts. Fealey's conversion brought the lead to 58-10.

The Virginia pack showed its dominance on set pieces throughout the match. In the 66th minute, a Hibernians scrum deep in their own half was stolen by Virginia. Davis found eight man Jason Gaviria, who easily broke a tackle for the try and a 63-10 lead. Four minutes later, Gaviria caught a Hibernians kick and bowled through the defense for his second try. The Hibernians coach was penalized on the ensuing kickoff, giving Virginia a penalty 10 meters inside the Hibernians half. Virginia dominated the ensuing scrum, sending the ball out to Dimani, who found McNulty for his second try of the match. Davis converted to bring the score to 75-10. Despite the enormous deficit, the Hibernians continued to fight until the end. In the final minutes of the match, they turned a scrum on the Virginia 22 into an unconverted try, bringing the final score to 75-15.
