SHOLING FC 'THE BOATMEN'

another step closer....

by David Adams

Sholing avenge the defeat earlier in the season with a committed display.

Sholing kept the winning momentum going against talented opponents, having to fight back from one down at half time. There was very little between the sides in the first half. Oakwood always seem to reserve their best displays for us! They took the lead with a well struck free kick which went in off the underside of the bar. Sholing kept playing their football & were rewarded 10 minutes into the second half, when a short corner resulted in George Butler's looping cross being volleyed into the net by Adam Redwood. Sholing's winner 5 minutes later was a thing of beauty. Ryan Vernon played an astute ball out of defence, which Luke Berg deftly flicked on to Sam Morris. Sam passed to an unmarked Adam Redwood. Quite what our central defender was doing as our most forward player is a mystery as yet unsolved. Nevertheless, he charged forward & unleashed an unstoppable shot from the edge of the area to seal the points. This win keeps us in the hunt for the title & we will do battle with Oakwood again in the cup semis.
