Newly promoted into Division 2, with a depleted squad and a team that had four new faces, Sholing were always going to find this a tough game. By the end of the first half we were 5 goals down. This could have been a greater deficit due to the number of corners that Pace forced and the amount of shots that they peppered our goal with. However Alex Middleditch continued his great form from last season and pulled off many good saves. Sholing were unable to maintain possession and allowed Pace many long shots on goal, some of which were simply unreachable.

With no substitutes to call on, injury forced Jamie Staples into goal for the second half where he bravely parried many attempts. Despite 6 more goals going in Daniel Webster continued to rally the defence to keep their heads up. However, Sholing were left wanting. Unable to keep possession and with formation and stamina wilting we were ultimately out-paced.
