TRURO all but killed off any hopes Wadebridge Camels had of getting into the promotion shake-up, while keeping alive their own aspirations, with a hard-fought 25-17 victory at St Clement’s Hill.
It was 10-10 at the interval. A 20th-minute try by impressive new Camels signing, lock Hugo Culverhouse from Plymouth Albion, was cancelled out by a touchdown from hooker Ben Teasdale.
Then a superb blindside break saw Luke Tidball over for Truro, before Wadebridge levelled once more with a try by hooker Matt Ballard.
The visitors took the lead early in the second half when Ballard finished off a catch-and-drive move, converted by fly half Danny Thomas via the crossbar to make it 17-10, but the Camels did not score again in the match.
Ashley Hosking slotted a penalty for Truro, and they got their noses back in front with a try on 65 minutes, with scrum half Owen Davey putting full back Tidball over for his second of the game, improved by fly half Hosking.
Truro sealed victory with time almost up, with winger Josh Symons beating three tacklers to score and deny Wadebridge, who travel to Wellington this weekend, even a losing bonus point.
