ST IVES made it two wins out of two with a second successive Cornish derby
They triumphed 49-13 over Wadebridge, but it was not as easy as the score
might suggest, with the Camels only trailing 13-8 early in the second half.
A yellow card for hooker Matt Ballard and an injury to Adam Blackmore, with
no replacement available, did not help Camels' cause after the interval, and
saw them go down to only 13 men for 10 minutes, and the Hakes capitalised.
The home side's powerful pack was again the cornerstone of their victory and
it provided them with their first-half penalty try after Camels collapsed a
Rhys Brownfield also kicked two penalties, while Camels got a try through
Adam Collings when Hakes' lock Jamie Prisk was in the sin-bin.
A Thomas penalty cut the deficit to five points early in the second period,
but the visitors did not score again until two minutes from time, when
Ballard dotted down.
In between, Liam Jolly, Pete Mabbott, former Cornish Pirates hooker Rob
Elloway, playing at No.8, Tom Chandler and Sam Carter all scored tries, with
Brownfield converting four and kicking a penalty.
