Clubs agreed unanimously that St Dominick should retain their premier place.

ST DOMINICK have been given a reprieve and will remain in the premier division of the Cornish Guardian East Cornwall Premier League despite finishing second from bottom last season.

The Saints were due to have been relegated along with bottom club Wadebridge. But the withdrawal of champions Plymouth Parkway created a vacancy in the top flight.

Clubs attending the league's annual meeting at the Cornwall FA Headquarters in Bodmin decided to fill in the place in the premier division, leaving the first division with 15 clubs.

The choice was between St Dominick and St Blazey, the highest non-promoted club in last season's first division. St Blazey declined the opportunity to move up, explaining that their young team were not yet ready for promotion.

So clubs agreed unanimously that St Dominick should retain their premier place.

Draws for the various cup competitions were made at the meeting, which also agreed that the new season should start on Saturday August 16.

Seb Marriott stood down as treasurer and Mark Adkins, son of secretary Ken Adkins, was elected in his place.

Gary Cornish of Wadebridge was elected as the league's representative on the Cornwall County FA.
