The Under 18s, despite a depleted squad, managed a win in dramatic settings in Tillycoultry. An injured Dylan Muir reports...

"Waid found themselves away to Hillfoots in Tillycoultry on a sunny Saturday afternoon and with high hopes of keeping a 100% win record, Waid were encouraged from the words of the team's captain Ally Brunton.

After Waid won the toss, the East Neuk side saw the first points of the game when Hillfoots failed to clear there lines and Robbie Allan cleaned up and went up the line for the first try of the day. With a difficult first kick and no kicking tee David failed to convert the try. The home side looked to have settled down in the next 5 minuets hammering the Waid defence but they held out strong and eventually received a penalty for there hard work. With a spectacular kick from Hodge , Waid had a line out in the hillfoots half. After a clean up from Josh Gatherum, Waid were in the Hillfoots 22. With some great hands, the Waid backs made no mistake and the outcome was a strong run from Callum Bawden who got over the line for Waid's second try of the day. Waid were 12-0 up and looking very strong. The Tillycoultry side were getting very frustrated and really pushed for a score but with good defence from Waid, they were unable to execute. In the 10th minute of the game, Waid had a scrum on the half way line and the number 8 picked the ball up and ran through the home defence to score Waid's 3rd try. A couple of minutes later, Callum Bawden was over the line for his second try of the day and Waids 4th. Hodge with pin point acuracy slotted the ball through the posts to extend Waids lead to 24-0. Further tries from Waid, conversions from Hodge and a conceeded try, the Anstruther lads led by 41-7 at the half.

As the second half got underway, the travelling youngsters looked a bit lost and unlike the team that played in the first half. However, not long after, the boys got their heads in the game with a powerful scrum and good kicking from Hodge, the boys heads were lifted. With great quick thinking from Hodge who saw a gap and go, he went over the line for Waid's eighth try of the day, with the kicking pressure handed to Callum Bawden for the second half he slotted a very difficult kick from the touch line to give Waid the extra two points. 48-7. Hillfoots managed to get themselves more into the game after getting a couple of converted tries back, but Waid were still in control and the game finished 67-21 with Waid as the victors."
