Disappointed not to win all our games, but still top of Division 3...........!

Another decent day's play but again four points left behind....................

The second round of the Greater Manchester Walking Football league (Div 3) took place on Friday 6th October and again we had 2 draws and a victory, albeit we conceded a goal for the first time in 6 matches.

A strong team travelled over with Mick Wilde and Chris Lund leading the defence alongside Mike Thompson. Niall ODonnell replaced John Myatt who had pulled out with an injury, and Ray Blackburn and David Holbrow were the two forwards.

In all three of the twenty minute games we created far more chances than our opponents.

We won our first game against Nash Bees 1-0, after sustained pressure and shots hitting the bar and cross bar, a scratchy goal from Ray finally beat their keeper just inside the post.

Comment on this game from Nash Bees web report "Wakefield Wanderers were again victors in our first game but possession was fairly balanced and again it was a 0-1 defeat against this team who move the ball well and look to be the best team in Division Three on the evidence of the last two sessions."

In the second game against Bury Relics we went behind when the referee allowed play to continue after the ball appeared to have gone out of play, but then scored an equaliser from a crafty bit of play from David Holbrow. Final score was 1-1.

The final game resulted in a scoreless draw with Bolton Wanderers 'B' after we had had 80% of the possession and again multiple chances to score. Mick Wilde was once again untroubled but effective when required.

Results

1-0 v Nash Bees (Blackburn)
1-1 v Bury Relics (Holbrow)
0-0 v Bolton Wanderers

Steve Stoker had travelled over as an additional player and very sportingly agreed to play with Maccabi Old Codgers in Division 2 who were short. He impressed them(?) and we are trying to arrange a fee!!
