Rugby at Walcot:
Walcot Rugby was founded in 1882 and has enjoyed over 130 years of quality rugby. The wide-open spaces of our two premium Lansdown pitches promote an expansive, fast-paced game.
Across 3 teams we offer senior rugby for all abilities, from the older, more social player through to the most competitive amateur.
Currently our senior sides compete in the following divisions:
- Walcot 1st XV play in Southern Counties South (Level 7)
- Walcot 2nd XV play in Tribute Somerset 2 North (Level 10)
- Walcot 3rd XV play in Tribute Somerset 3 North (Level 11)
Although it is often the 1st XV that carries the flag for Walcot RFC, the club's strength comes from it's successful 2nd and 3rd teams and a very active and successful youth section.
We especially welcome young players and have a programme in place to provide a supporting environment so that these young men can achieve their potential, whether they are progressing to senior rugby from the club's youth teams or newly joining the club. We have long maintained strong links to both the University of Bath and Bath Spa University and a number of students from play for us each season.
The Walcot Colts side compete in the Dorset & Wilts North West Merit Table. This team sits at the top of our youth rugby setup, where we have teams at every age group from U7 to Colts. The youth rugby organisation is supported by a strong coaching and volunteering setup, training and playing mainly on Sunday mornings.
Walcot combines successful rugby on the field with a friendly family environment, centred around a large, recently refurbished clubhouse, though a good knees-up is also enjoyed from time-to-time!
The club's committee aims to provide the best environment for an amateur setup. Walcot RFC has a clear development plan in place to ensure it continues to improve in it's pursuit to support a progressive infrastructure for the players, captains and coaches, inclusive rugby at all age groups and a welcoming social environment for all members.
