Hello and welcome to the under7's Team's space.
Our aim is to run a really enjoyable and fun under 7's rugby team that's about having fun and being involved in Rugby. The RFU's new rules for U7 mean that there is a real focus on a flowing fun tag game. We look to develop kids into playing in teams of 4. We try to keep our training games as short, fun and instructional as possible.
Playing different clubs
Over the course of the year we will play different teams across the area. For the U7s these are more about the chance to play with teams from other clubs and is not about entering a competition. When we play another team we do our normal warm ups and exercises then play the visiting/away team. All kids will get a chance to play and we will work to ensure everyone feels they have taken part.
Girls and boys alike
Our team is for girls and boys alike at all levels of ability. At this stage of Rugby we are really looking for the kids to enjoy their time on a Sunday and want to come back for more. There's no contact at all with a focus on running and passing with the ball.
It's all about the hot dogs
The biggest motivation after rugby for the kids is the availability of hot dogs and drinks afterwards in the club house for parents to purchase. The kids have a chance to relax and play more with their rugby friends in the modern club house facilities. The club house is also a great place for adults to get hot drinks during the games.
Staying with your children
The Sunday sessions are run by volunteers and we ask parents to stay at the sessions. We can not accept responsibility for your child in these sessions. We also ask parents to help with putting tag belts on or looking after their child if they get bumped in the play.
Wrapping up warm
As most residents of Bath should know Lansdown can be occasionally quite chilly and I would encourage all parents to wrap the boys and girls up well as we can always take layers off.
Come and try us out
Do feel free to come up and chat after the sessions if there is anything you wish to discuss.
If you wish to contact us please feel free to email Matthew Knockton or feel free to turn up at a training session.
If your child is interested in playing rugby and in year 1 or 2 please do take a look at the Walcot Players/Parents Welcome Pack on the Documents page.
Walcot train on Sundays at 10:00am, but please check the fixtures list to make sure when the next training session will be.
