BATTLE HILL PLAYING FIELD: VENUE INFORMATION

1 year ago By Michael Florance

The site at Battle Hill Playing Field has been the official home of Wallsend Rugby Union Football Club since 2015.

Wallsend RUFC secured the site in 2012 and volunteers have worked tirelessly over the years to transform what was once a derelict and overgrown area into a fully-functional sports and playing venue. Two top of the range, fully-drained rugby pitches now take up two thirds of the site and they are to be admired from the Coast Road.

Alongside the ground's sporting facilities, the club now also offers free car parking and changing facilities and has plans to develop further.

VENUE CAPABILITIES

Need somewhere to host your event? Through our team of passionate members and volunteers we are able to offer total support from enquiry through to delivery to ensure every aspect of your event is meticulously planned and executed.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Since it’s re-homing in 2015 Wallsend RUFC has seen substantial growth in its minis and juniors sections and now boasts facilities for all ages to train, play, learn and have fun from 4 to 16 - and the senior teams beyond. From the juniors festival of rugby, which attracted hundreds of people, to our seniors home games with our supporting faithful.

ABOUT THE VENUE

Situated in the heart of North Tyneside, Wallsend RUFC is only a short distance from Newcastle city centre and the coast. The ground has excellent transport links with the A1058 Coast Road and A19 corridor just moments away, as well as accessible bus routes and metro services less than one mile away. Wallsend RUFC at Battle Hill Playing Field has a unique placement within the borough and region.
