This week’s fixture gave us a great game of rugby. Both Walsall and Lichfield were up for the game and no quarter was asked or given for the whole 50mins. Lichfield stated the better, putting a lot of pressure on the Walsall defence. However Walsall stood strong and tackled everything that Lichfield threw at them. They then worked their way up field and after battering the Lichfield line for 5 mins, managed to force James Tamilio over for a try. The conversion was missed and Lichfield continued to put pressure on Walsall, however Walsall put their own pressure on Lichfield to secure some turnovers and the score remained the same til the last play of the first half when a Lichfield cut back and managed to cross under the posts for a converted try.
The second half stated badly for Walsall when a pass went astray which was picked up by a Lichfield player to go over in the corner. Walsall didn’t give up and following some powerful plays managed to get to the Lichfield line. Walsall were awarded a penalty and Nico Watkins crashed over the line to score Walsall’s second try. The game continued to swing from one side to the other with both sides putting some great defensive plays, then just before the end, Lichfield sealed it with a third try in the corner. Both sides should be congratulated on a fine game of rugby.
