Walsall U11 & U12 v Tamworth U12
A fantastic result for Walsall. !!!!
A mainly U11's team with 7 U12's guesting for the U11's. Both teams started really well, making the game end to end entertaining rugby. Tamworth scored first through a tiny gap in the Walsall defence. Tackling became far more positive in defence. Wave after wave of pressure from Walsall's forwards worked well and gained good ground for Cory Selby to crash through the Tamworth defence and score, converted by Ben Pitt. The rest of match one was evenly matched finishing 7 - 7 . a good all-round performance by Walsall.
Match Two,
Walsall were on a high after the first game. Determination was seen in the team. After working hard in the first game they started really well . Walsall knew they had to tackle well against a Larger Tamworth team. Mid way through the first half Tamworth worked it well down the field feeding the winger to go over in the corner. Walsall upped their game and after half time pressure was on Tamworth. A few dropped passes by Tamworth created chances for Walsall's forwards and backs, resulting in Cory Selby to go over for his second try of the match. A well worked team effort ! The conversion put over by Ben Pitt. Time was ticking and you could see Walsall wanted that winner. More encouraging attacking play meant, more pressure on Tamworth. Five minutes from time Tamworth dropped the ball, Walsall collected it and rucked Tamworth off the ball. Luke Cox picked it up off the base of the ruck and crashed over to score. Ben Pitt added the extra two points. Walsall won 14 - 7.
A great well deserved win by Walsall against a bigger team. Team spirit and effort for each other worked for the lads, Well done lads. See you all Wednesday night.
Rob & John, very happy coaches. :-)
