Under 7\'s - Match centre

Sutton Coldfield
Walsall RFC
Sun 24 Feb 10:30 - Friendly Kickoff 10:30

24/02/2013 - Sutton AWAY.

Tough morning at Sutton

Well, fortunately, despite the cold weather, Suttons pitches held up nicely and we were able to get another game in. The weather has not been kind so far this year!

Due to Sutton having plenty of numbers and with our new editions, we able to play three games at a time, so the Under 7's split into 3 teams of 4. Excellent performances from all of the players, with Sutton proving to be a tough tough test. They possessed some of the quickest and jinkiest players we have seen this season, but I think we matched them and the close results across the board showed how close the two teams were.

So, in my team were -
Rhys, Freddie P, Maxwell and Noah.

Game 1 - Won 11-9
Tries for Rhys (4), Freddie (1), Maxwell (5), Noah (1)

Game 2 - Won 15-8
Tries for Rhys (6), Freddie (4), Maxwell (5), Noah (1)

Game 3 - Won 9-5
Tries for Rhys (4), Freddie (3), Maxwell (1), Noah (1)

Game 4 - Drew 7-7
Tries for Rhys (4), Freddie (2), Maxwell (1)

Absolutely brilliant performance form all of the above. Great try tallies for each with Freddie's (powerful 10), Maxwells (dazzling 12) and Noah's cracking hat trick (couple of great full length runs). But well done to Rhys, with a new record 18 tries! For this and his managing to pick most dropped balls and run the length, Rhys got my Star Of The Week.

In Mikes team were -
Ben W, Chase, Charlie, Hendrik

Game 1 - Lost 11-10
Tries for Ben (2), Hendrik (2), Charlie (1), Chase (4)

Game 2 - Lost 8-9
Tries for Ben (4), Hendrik (1), Chase (3)

Game 3 - Won 11-10
Tries for Ben (1), Hendrik (6), Chase (4)

Game 4 - Drew 8-8
Tries for Ben (4), Chase (1), Hendrik (3)

Having spoke to Mike, he was pleased with how all his team performed. Chase scoring a fantastic 12 tries (despite the name, sounds like everyone else is doing the chasing!), Hendrik equalling that with 12 of his own and Congrats to Charlie who played in his first competitive game and scored on debut! However, yet again, as a result of outstanding leadership and tagging Ben got Mikes Star Of The Week with a great 11 tries to go with it!

Jacks Report

Having finally decrypted my notes I can comment on a mixed bag of results from my teams games however would like to emphasis the improvement still being shown by all players in attack and defence with particular mention to some stand out performances.

My team was as follows:
Charlie P, James, Ben P and Jonathan.

Game 1- Won 10-7 (Extended game)
Tries for James (6), Charlie (3), Jonathan (2) and Ben P (1)

Game 2- Lost 9-7
Tries for Charlie (3), Jonathan (3) and James (1)

Game 3- Lost 10-7
Tries for Charlie (5), James (1), Jonathan (1)

My star of the week was Charlie Pitt for a constantly high performance in all 3 matches becoming apparent with a total of 11 tries altogether. Well done Charlie keep it up!
With regards to the rest of the team; it is very promising to see the attack potential of James considering he only joined the team a few weeks ago. Ben P is showing a much greater understanding of the game and it showing a clear improvement in his attack and defence since I previously saw him. Jonathan is continuing his good work from before Christmas consistently scoring tries but also leading the team in the manner upon which he defends.
All of you keep up the good work!

Next week we return to Tamworth again! Lets carry on the good work......
