Sunday 8th March 2015 - Newport AWAY
Wet, muddy, rainy miserable morning, but some great rugby!
Today we travelled to Newport Salop for what was one of the wettest most miserable mornings we've seen for a couple of years. Despite this the lads all warmed up well and were obviously up for a good game in the mud.
As we expected it was a very tough morning of rugby against a big physical side, but credit to the lads, they defended their hearts out putting some some work into their team defence as well as some great individual tackling.
The conditions weren't great for fast flowing rugby, but the support play was good and there was a lot of determination and passion showed in making best efforts to get over the line.
As ever, we split the teams and the results are as below -
My team won the first game 5 - 3
Rhys (1), Hendrik (1), Harry, Jonathan, James (2), Jude, Sean and Cian (1)
We lost the 2nd game 6-4
Rhys (1), Hendrik, Harry, Jonathan (2), James (2), Jude, Sean and Cian.
Stans team lost first game 6-3
Max (3), Noah, Danny, Oliver, William, Freddie, lucas and Liam
Then lost 2nd game 6-3
Max (1), Noah (1), Danny (1), Oliver, William, Freddie, lucas and Liam
As you can see from the results, we were met by a much more physical side who were much more clinical in finishing their tries. That said, I cannot fault our commitment at all, with some of the 'quieter' players raising their games today and putting the hits in despite the grim conditions.
Lots to take forward into the next game next week...
See you then!
