D K 5 v Walsall 49
A Sunny Day Away At D K !
A fine sunny away day game wrapped up the season really well.
Walsall Young Bears were in great spirits after a very good development season.
The game got under way, it didn't take Walsall long to work the ball out through the forwards to the mid division of the backs. Straight running lines and support resulted in a great team try to start the scoring. Leo Gilliland got the team under way. D K then seemed to roll their sleeves up and push forward using some very good interplay from their strong centres. If it wasn't from Walsall's good low tackles the score could have been closer in the first half. Walsall then applied strong pressure again winning good ball in rucks and opposition scrums, adding more tries. D K attacked pushing the ball out wide after a small error in judgement from Walsall's backs. Home team took full advantage and went over in the corner. First half score 5-29.
The second half saw 3 changes in the Young Bears team. But the team strength was still apparent as Walsall carried on attacking DK's attacking options by strong defensive positioning and counter attacking from stolen ball. Passing and support play was of a high standard. A good selfless try set up by Lewis Hawkins to put Ben White in the corner.
A great game all round, D K never gave up playing. They have a very good squad, so I am sure they will be developing well next season. Many thanks to Andy for the game.
