A Great Last Home Game Of the Season. !
DK came to Walsall today to play entertaining rugby, and weren't disappointed. It was a dry day a the pitch was in good condition for this fixture.
Both teams came with big squads expecting a hard fought contest. Dk kicked off the first half deep into the Walsall half, which was returned with interest. Linking Walsall's forwards with their backs to push deep into the DK half. Held up with a good solid tackle, Walsall then rucked and produced good service to Liam who moved forward at pace and power. Liam then came to a sudden stop with a good tackle from the DK backs, offloading the ball to Max to score for the first Walsall try. Conversion missed. DK kicked off and Walsall pushed once more, credit to DK they tackled and held their shape really well. Walsall lost a few scrums today and DK used this to their advantage making good head way up the pitch towards Walsall try line. The Walsall Bandits held firm though and managed to steal DK good ball off them. 15mins in there was some good support play by Walsall for the back to pus it into midfield and ship the ball out to Oliver who used his nifty footwork and strength to get his first try of the season. Well done. Conversion missed.DK worked hard to push up field and record their points but Walsall's defensive line held tight. Possession was used well all game with both teams working with great determination to break each others defence. The Bandits forwards had their lions share of the ball and made good use of it propelling forward as a tight unit. Arnold producing some good strong runs off the fringe of contact areas.This made the platform for a great move inside DK's 22 giving a pass to Fin and crash over for his try. Conversion missed.
DK restarted and Walsall took the game to DK again pushing the pressure back on DK. DK held them for long phases of play until Max took the ball on a strong centre field run making good ground then off loading to Liam, who in turn push up the pitch making 20metresfinally getting held up in the tackle and off loading to Lewis. Lewis took the ball used good agility and pace to score. Great team try. Conversion missed. DK then pushed Walsall into an unforced error from the kick off, Walsall knocked the ball on. DK had a scrum, won it then pushed deep into Walsall's half, creating good line running only to be stopped by good defensive tackles. Walsall stole their ball and made excellent ground by using constructed phase play to get them back into DK's half. Alex made a powerful run which took some stopping , 3 players to be precise only for Alex to off load it to Fin and Fin obliged the pass by scoring his second of the game. Conversion missed.

Second half kicked off by Walsall, it was then Walsall's turn to soak up pressure. DK used wave after wave of platformed attack to create some really good moves only to be snuffed out by a good defence. Walsall held in their half struggled for the first 5mins in their half from DK scrum pressure. You could tell DK had worked on their technique over the last couple of months. The visitors pushed harder and harder towards Walsall's line, a certain try loomed after 10mins as they broke away but Dmitri had other ideas, putting a solid try saving tackle in. DK then worked the ball wide after the last attempt and linked well to finally score 12mins into the second half.
Walsall then created moves of their own after the re start by pushing a centre field move towards DK's posts, creating a good platform for Max to take the ball make yards and commit his marker thus off loading to Liam who crashed over for his try. Conversion good ! by Joe W. DK made set plays of their own and scored two more with in 10 mins. Walsall pushed on after the kick off and a sweet move with Arnold linking with Lewis at pace, Lewis changing direction and passing to Dmitri on the wing pushed play down the left wing. Dmitri came back inside as his wing was congested and popped it back inside for Max to take it at pace and force a gap between two tacklers to score. Conversion good ! Joe W. DK in the last minute had a right side scrum 15metres out from Walsall's line, they took it and worked a move well with the centre switching at pace with the scrum half to score wide out on the right side.

Probably the best team game Walsall put together for a long while. Positive actions and good direct running put the lads in the driving seat. Defensive shape is improving week by week . Keep up the good work lads.
