Walsall 3s V Stone 1s
Another close well fought match
As we expected this was a tough game against a well drilled and organised Stone team. The first half saw Stone score a couple of good tries, capitalising on our mistakes in defence and scoring two good tries under the posts which were converted.
At 14-0 at half time, a stern talking to was needed and provided by the skipper.
The second half we came out and tightened up our defence as well as making the most of the advantage of the wind and sun behind us. A couple of good long kicks that were well chased gave us some good positions to play from, but we just struggled to put phases together and get over the line. A penalty kicked by Kev Pitt gave us a much needed 3 points, but the highlight was the return of Rich Coleman who managed to score out wide (unconverted).
Stone managed to get another converted try during the 2nd half so we lost 21-8.
We will still claim having the won the second half though ;-)
A tough game, with lots of mistakes, but the effort was certainly there in the second half and we continued with the excellent discipline we have displayed over the last few weeks.
