Yate Town 3 Wantage Town 0

Wantage Town lost their first game under the new management of Daniel Barry amongst some controversy losing 3-0 at Yate Town this Saturday.

A tight first half which saw Jared Jones go close on debut early on from a Lovegrove flick nearly burst into action on 24 mins when Cox header hit Tucker's post in the Wantage goal. Melledew hit a fierce strike soon after which just went over the bar but right on half time Dale Evans corner was headed firmly into the net by Chandler.

Hate started the 2nd half well but it was just after the hour when the key incident of the match occurred. George Reid went down in the box but to everyones amazement the referee ruled it a dive and booked the Wantage youngster. Just minutes later he Reid went in to a tackle and just mistimed it. But it was enough to earn another yellow and hence a red. This turned the game massively in favour of the hosts. But it wasn't until the 88th minute they sealed the points when Abraham met Meaker's cross. And then to rub salt into the wounds they made it 2 goals in 2 minutes when Rogers slotted the ball past Tucker for 3-0. Harsh indeed for the Freds.

No game next week for the first team however. Next up home to title favourites Merthyr Town on Saturday 8th November.

The Reserves under the stewardship of James Kyberd (with some assistance from Aleck Everard) were unable to find a way past their opponent New College Swindon on Saturday as they fought out a 0-0 draw. Both sides had chances but no one was able to take them and a draw was a fair result.
