Wantage play their first preseason match away from home this coming Tuesday when they take on Hellenic Premier Division newcomers Thatcham Town.

Thatcham are newly managed by Gareth Thomas who played a couple of games on loan at Wantage (from Thatcham) towards the end of last season.

With both Paul Taplin and Danny Lachacz switching to Thatcham for this coming season it will be an interesting night of action.

Team news is that Matt Pedder, Karl Roberts and Rich Claydon return to the squad after missing the weekend game. Also Lee Farrow returns after holiday. Jon Steedman and Jimmy Deabill are unavailable however.

Weekend roundup

Over the weekend a lot of the opponents in the Southern League continued their preseason campaigns.

Stratford went down 2-0 at home to Worcester City, Fleet Town had a creditable 1-1 draw with Hayes & Yeading of Conference South - Jack White with the Fleet goal. Clevedon overcame local side Risca Utd 4-2 - Troy Budd 2, Issac Reid and Lewis Hedges scored. Didcot were just edged out at home by Oxford Utd 1-0, Supermarine beat Chippenham 2-0 thanks to goals from Morse and Drewitt. Tiverton Town beat Exmouth 2-1 away - James Richards and Steve Goss scoring and finally Bridgwater Town went down 5-4 to a Bristol City U18 side.
