Artificial surface to be ready for coming season.

From the AFC Sudbury website:

Director Richard Instance announced "We have now been granted full planning consent for the installation of a 3G pitch at The Wardale Williams Stadium".

After a Board Meeting on Monday the club has confirmed that they have instructed Velocity Ltd to install the artificial grass pitch on the King's Marsh main pitch.

Work will start on site on the 1st June 2015 with a construction time of between eight and nine weeks. This means that unfortunately it is unlikely that the club will be unable to host any pre-season friendlies this season.

However work should be complete in time for the start of the 2015/16 season. There are contingency plans in place in case of delays to the construction programme.

Richard Instance said "This is a really exciting time for the club, the installation of the 3G pitch will not only provide a great playing surface for our teams but will provide an opportunity for the club to expand its commercial and community activities."

The 3G pitch will be hired either as a full size, half size or quarter size pitch, the club has already taken a number of block bookings for its use.
