Harlow and Needham look likely to battle to the end for the championship whilst Cray continue their surge away from the relegation positions.

Harlow's 2-1 win at Ware put them back in contention for automatic promotion after Needham Market were held at home by Dereham Town. Only a point separates the two clubs with three matches to play, the most crucial of which will be their meeting at Needham on April 18th.

But the result with the most immediate effect was Thurrock's 6-2 home win over Romford. It elevated Thurrock into the play-off positions and dropped Romford into the bottom three. Those changes were aided by Wroxham's 3-1 loss at Soham and Cray's 3-0 defeat of Chatham, their sixth win on the trot.

The Kent club are now out of the bottom three and although the season is not yet over seem to have the momentum with them.

Below Romford are Barkingside who drew at home to Redbridge after conceding a 90th minute own goal. Barkingside are a point behind Romford but with a game in hand. Both could take heart from already relegated Burnham Ramblers who achieved a rare win at Great Wakering.

Brentwood and Sudbury look safe in the play-offs but Thurrock will have to look out for Brightlingsea, Wroxham and Dereham who could all take the last available place from them.

Cheshunt lost 1-0 in their derby game at Waltham Abbey, their first defeat in eight games.
