Four-nil midweek win at Great Wakering lifts the Yachtsmen into fifth place.

Wroxham repeated our own score against Great Wakering from Saturday but this was in the league and lifted them above us in the table. In fact they move into the play-off places and drop Soham into sixth place.

AFC Sudbury were another team hoping to take advantage of a game in hand but they came unstuck at home to Cheshunt by 3-1 who move to within two points of Ware.

Both the leading sides won 4-2 with Harlow beating next Saturday's opponents Heybridge Swifts on their own patch. All the goals came in the second half after the home side had Aaron Gayle sent off. It was almost the reverse at Needham where five of the six goals came in the first 30 minutes, visitors Maldon hauling themselves back level after going two down only to concede another within two minutes.

Ware's other local side, Waltham Abbey, finished 1-1 at Redbridge.
