Four-nil up after 19 minutes Ware probably thought the game was all over but nobody told Heybridge.

Kieran Bishop with two goals plus one each from Charlie Ledula and Albert Adu had put Ware in a commanding position but a surprise response from the home side with only a quarter of the match played changed the complexion of the game.

It looked as though the next goal could decide the outcome and Heybridge did their best to score it but after Bishop missed a second half penalty the home side had to wait until the last minute for their second.

It was only Ware's third victory over the Swifts in 23 matches and it lifted them into sixth place in the table. Harlow stay in front after a 5-1 home win over Cheshunt who had three sent off including former Ware player Aryan Tajbakhsh. Second placed Needham Market lost 2-0 at Aveley.

Thurrock, Brentwood and Wroxham all won away and fill the other play-off places. Another away winner was Great Wakering Rovers with an unexpected 4-1 success at Dereham. Cray, Maldon and Burnham now occupy the relegation places. However Burnham won 3-2 at home to Thamesmead, ending a run of nine defeats and fifteen games without a win.

In Ryman South next week's FA Trophy opponents, Horsham, lost 2-1 at Three Bridges and remain third from bottom.
