Balancing act almost backfires but Ware take another three points.

Having had by far the better of the first half in which they led by 3-0 within the first twenty minutes Ware looked good for a comfortable win. Given that and hoping to maintain a balance between the points now and those available next, Kem Kemal withdrew Gareth Price from the fray ten minutes into the second half. With Cheshunt coming up at Wodson Park on Monday it seemed reasonable to keep Price fresh and free from injury, his present job done with two goals and an assist.

However just eight minutes later Wroxham were allowed back into the game when Tom Rampling's free kick from distance bounced in front of Darren Behcet and, in the cross wind, defied his attempts to deal with it, the ball going into the roof of the net. Suddenly the Yachtsmen had found some breeze in their sails.

It was something of a gamble therefore when Josh Oyibo was also taken off just two minutes later presumably for the same reasons as Price. Two of the first half's star performers were out of the action and Ware's own momentum was slowed.

Even so Ware looked more than capable of keeping the Wroxham fleet anchored out of range especially after Evandro Delgado arrived with less than 20 minutes to go and injected fresh impetus into their attacks. But the 80th minute saw the Blues defence give Ross Gilfedder too much room on the edge of their area and his well placed shot found the net with Behcet some way adrift.

The balance between conserving points now and saving resources for points on Monday was beginning to teeter on a tightrope as Wroxham sensed an opportunity to save the game. This was never more so than in the third minute of added time when Behcet was at full stretch to steer a goal bound effort round the post. It was enough to safeguard the win however and the final whistle sounded shortly after.

None of this seemed likely in a first half in which Ware were noticeably quicker than their opponents in thought and deed. They played good possession football, spraying the ball around to expose the home defence. There was a brief period when their confidence saw them over-elaborating at the back but they rode that out and continued to look to increase a 3-0 lead that was completed early in the game and started even earlier.

Following a fourth minute free kick for the home side that drifted dangerously across the face of Ware's goal the resultant goal kick reached Ahmed Mohammed. The Ware man, making his full debut after an appearance off the bench last week, took the ball down the wing and his centre found Price who headed beyond the dive of Harley Lemmon in the home goal. It all looked very simple.

It was 2-0 after 17 minutes when Price's well-judged free kick from 25 yards went in off the underside of Lemmon's bar just inside his right hand post. Almost immediately after the restart Oyibo ghosted through the offside trap to test Lemmon with a lob that was safely gathered. But a follow-up attack saw Price out jump the taller home defence to nod the ball on to Marcus Milner. The Ware man rode a tackle to give himself time and space to shoot home for goal number three.

Price's two goals and an assist must make him man of the match but Oyibo and Ryan Hervel were also noticeable as Ware recorded three consecutive league wins for the first time this season and a first ever win away to the Yachtsmen.

Ware: Darren Behcet, Junior Appiah (Evandro Delgado 72mins), Alaa Oujdi, Ryan Hervel, Lee White, Jack Fowler, Ahmed Mohammed, Marcus Milner, Gareth Price (Kambo Smith 55mins), Josh Oyibo (Imedd Kartita 65mins), Murat Karagul. Unused subs: Laurence Vaughan, Kevin Kuhn.
