Bill Peacock - Rest in Peace

Bill Peacock - Rest in Peace image

With much sadness I have to report that Bill passed away just before Christmas. He will be much missed by his family and many friends.

Bill Peacock passed away on the 23rd December. He would have been 90 years old in March.

The funeral will be held at Beckenham Crematorium on the 27th January at 2.15pm.

Bill played a significant part in the success of Warlingham F.C. as both a player and later as Secretary. He enjoyed success at the club in both roles. His sons, Micky, Andy and Steve, also went on to play for the club.

Those that remember Bill will probably do so from his time as Secretary during a successful period for the club in the 60's and 70's. He was never without a smile and was a pleasure to be around. My earliest recollections have him running the line with his trousers tucked in his socks. Sprinting up and down the line much as he had done in his playing days.

As a player he was an accomplished winger and was a key part of our successful 1st XI who won the Surrey Intermediate Premier Division in season 1949-50. I know he was still playing in 1962 in the Reserves when he would have been 40.

Bill is sitting on the far left (as you look at it) in the attached photo which is also on the opening webpage and the front of our 1st team programme every week.

He will be very much missed by all who knew him and the club have lost both an old friend and loyal servant.

Our sympathies go out to his family at this difficult time.
