Hello and welcome to the new season..

I thought i'd start by giving you all a low down about Warminster RFC, especially for all those interested in joining our great club.

Warminster Rugby club is based at the end of Folly Lane Warminster, BA12 7RG.
Tel: 01985 214755

By registering with Pitchero through this website you receive email updates on Team news, the activities at the Club, offers and tickets.
The Club has a modern Club house with changing rooms, showers, a good sized club room, including Skittle alley, Kitchen, Bar, and large hard surface car park. The venue is available for members to hire for private functions also.

We have Mini and Junior squads in the following ages this year, and welcome Boys and Girls to play of any ability. Coaches comply with CRB checks and the child protection officer is Kerri Perkins. Contact number can be found on this Website.

The age group a child plays in is defined by the age your child will become that coming year, i.e age 7 years on 1st Sept will play as an U8.

Children who play in U6, U7 and U8 will play ‘Tag Rugby’, where tackling is not permitted.

A fast and fantastic game to watch which the kids develop into. A Belt with velcro’d tags are worn draped from the belt. Opposing players tear these tags from a player carrying the ball which signifies a tackle.
As the child progresses in age, contact tackles will be taught beginning at U9’s going onto 3 person scrummage, leading onto full scrummage and lineouts in the older age groups.

Warminster RFC M&J’s section currently has Squads and committed coaches for the following age groups.

U6, U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U13, and U14.

Children who fall into the U12 age group can join, on parents giving consent, for the child to play up an age group and the Coach/Club authorising playing up.

Coach’s names and contact details are published on this website in the Minis and Juniors section.

Registration for new and returning players this season is 7th September 2014, 10.00am. Training will also take place.
New/returning players will always be accepted throughout the season.

Membership costs are as follows;

Junior (includes social membership) - £40
Senior Player/Committee/VP - £60
Social only - £10

Matches and training are normally Sunday mornings at 10.30am sharp, commencing with a warm up, fitness, training and a game. Younger kids only train/play for an hour and for the rest of the age groups training is normally over by 12.30.

The kitchen provides hot beverages and hot food, as well as a tuck shop running alongside. Whilst training/matches are taking place, the Bar is normally open. Both these functions are staffed purely by kind and committed volunteers.
Help is always needed to run both and many hands make light work!

Kit
Suitable normal sports kit with football or Rugby boots carrying studs not blades are essential. Plenty of layers of clothing is advised allowing the kids to shed the layers as they warm up. The same applies to supporters, Rugby Pitches can be cold places!

The team strip can be purchased from Scholars at 42 George St, Warminster. Tel: 01985 847757.
Occasionally there is available used clothing/boots to purchase at the Club.

As the season progresses Matches will be played at home and away, we welcome family and friends to watch and support the teams, it really boosts the player’s ego. As we host home Matches we have to attend away games, so some traveling is needed. (Occasionally there may be a fee when playing matches at away Tournaments). If you have any difficulty, please speak to your team Coach or Team Admin for support.

Finally we look forward to welcoming you at Folly Lane. And look forward to your child and his or her supporters enjoying the experience.

Yours in Rugby
Alan Russell
