Prescot Fundraiser Cancelled
The eagerly anticipated annual match between Hollyoaks and Prescot Cables has been postponed with the Cables opponents being unable to confirm the date.
The match which has taken place for the previous two years has been a wonderful spectacle for both football and soap fans alike. However, busy diaries and tight schedules has meant that the fixture could not be arranged despite frantic efforts by all concerned. Cables will continue to support our chosen charity and seek alternative fundraising methods.

Wakefield Merge With Local Side
This coming season will see the Bears merge with Wakefield City FC.
The arrangement was agreed two weeks ago between the management teams. For Wakefield City FC the merger should help protect their future, which was somewhat in doubt. It will allow them to join a sizeable club structure and hopefully give them a larger pool of players to have access to.
For the Bears, (subject to agreement of terms with West Yorkshire Sports Club) it will provide a home for the U18's, Ladies Reserves and Wakefield College. It may also provide a home in the future for our 10 or so junior teams. The arrangement also gives exposure to open age football for the younger lads from our Academy, giving them the opportunity to play mens football and in turn giving Lee Vigars (City Manager) a chance of winning promotion to get somewhere close or into North East Counties League (2 divisions above) therefore providing the club with a very good standard in which to bleed new talent and offer highly competitive games to play in.
From the start of 2012/2013 season it is intended that the entire club will be named 'Wakefield City FC', with the current Wakefield City FC playing in the Bears colours.

Witton Announce Sponsored Walk
After a long spell of ground sharing at Wincham Park, home of Witton Albion Football Club, Runcorn Linnetts returned to a new ground at the Millbank Linnetts Stadium at the start of the 2010/11 season.
A great friendship had emerged between both teams during Linnetts ground sharing years, and as such, their first game, last summer at their new ground, saw a friendly match between the 2 teams. The Witton Albion Development Fund organised a sponsored walk to the match to raise funds to maintain and further develop Wincham Park, which was a great success and really impressed the Linnetts fans.
This year, on Saturday 30th July 2011, Runcorn Linnetts return to Wincham Park for what is becoming an annual friendly match. Some of the Linnetts fans are walking to Wincham from the Millbank Stadium to raise funds for the maintenance of their ground. They have invited Witton Albion fans to join them in this walk.
