RAMSBOTTOM UNITED
Ramsbottom United have announced that winger Grant Spencer has returned to Blue Square Premier club Hyde while squad members Ryan Moore and Kieron Pickup have gone out on loan to Padiham to give them some football.
As the unwelcomed winter break has left the management team of Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley frustrated, they are trying to look on the bright side.
“We are treating it as a chance for the players to have a rest, especially as we are exactly half way through the season,” said Johnson. ”We are doing what we can in training, but are looking to return having realised that we have settled well into the Evo-Stik.
"With the exception of New Mills who thoroughly deserved to beat us, and the score-line flattered us, I honestly believe that we should have taken something from every other game. We need to push on now so we need all the lads showing 100% commitment both in training and the games if we are to keep up with the top five. Whilst we will be playing two games most weeks, every other team will be doing the same”.
On the playing front, with the addition of the likes of Glodi Kuba-Kuba and Kristian Evans, Ryan Moore and Keiron Pickup have both been loaned out to NWCFL side Padiham in an attempt to give them playing time.
“Both remain Ramsbottom United players”, confirmed Johnson, “and at just 18 years of age, Keiron is very much a player for the future. He needs to keep playing, as he hasn’t been a regular for us so far this season. Ryan’s situation is slightly different, as it looks as though he will be moving to America in the near future.”
When asked about Ian Flannery, Johnson was able to confirm that the towering defender went for a scan over the last weekend, and both player and club are awaiting the results, although it is likely to be a while before he is back in training.
Meanwhile, Grant Spencer has returned to Blue Square Bet Premier club Hyde and was recalled to their squad for the game against Grimsby Town on Tuesday night.
