Evo-Stik First Division North Results & Review

Leaders Chester FC dropped two home points in the Evo-Stik League First Division North on Saturday, but still head the table by a healthy twelve points.

Cheshire neighbours Witton Albion were able to prevent a side who had netted eighty-five league goals from finding the net at the Deva Stadium in front of another fantastic attendance of 2,716.

However, it could have been worse for the hosts as Albion missed a couple of gilt-edged chances to win the game.

Second-placed Chorley took full advantage of Chester`s minor blip by winning 3-1 at Seel Park against Mossley.

Tom Ince gave the Magpies the boost of an early 7th minute lead that new boy Steve Foster added to after 23 minutes.

Three minutes later Mossley pulled one back through a Matty Kay penalty, but John Cunliffe made sure with Chorley`s third on the hour-mark.

Skelmersdale United, Curzon Ashton and AFC Fylde are third, fourth and fifth respectively, separated only by a point.

And in the game of the day, Fylde were beaten at home by Skem by the odd goal in five.

Lee Parle put the visitors in front 5 minutes before the break and 8 minutes after it Karl O`Donnell made it 2-0.

Matt Walwyn reduced the deficit 9 minutes from time, only for O`Donnell to make it 3-1 less than 3 minutes later, with Walwyn`s second coming in stoppage time.

Curzon, meanwhile, were held to a goalless draw by lowly Radcliffe Borough at Stainton Park.

Warrington Town are seven points behind the top five and could have done with more than a point from a 2-2 home draw with Garforth Town.

Ben Thornton put the Yorkshire side in front after 19 minutes. Mike Tomlinson levelled in the 29th, but David Brown`s 62nd minute goal looked like being enough, until the Yellows` Alan Collins equalised in injury-time.

Ossett Albion moved level on points with second-bottom Leigh Genesis after earning a 1-1 Dimple Wells draw with Clitheroe, whose Rob Turner gave them the lead a minute after half time, only for Jamie Riordan to level 12 minutes from time.

Leigh were beaten 2-1 at home by third-bottom Harrogate Railway Athletic, who are now eleven points clear of the bottom two.

Wayne Harratt put `Rail in front after 14 minutes, but it wasn`t until the last minute that Mike Duckworth scored their winner after Steve Ferrigan had equalised 15 minutes from time.

Durham City found their scoring boots, beating visiting Salford City 6-2 with both Andy Stephenson and Ross Wilkinson bagging braces, Amar Purewal and David Dowson singles.

A single Max Rothwell goal 3 minutes from time was enough for Lancaster City at the Giant Axe against Cammell Laird, while Neil Black and Aaron Taylor scored twice in 4 first half minutes to earn Bamber Bridge victory at Trafford.

The game between Woodley Sports and Wakefield ended all-square at 1-1, with Tom Denton`s penalty 15 minutes from time cancelling out Nathan Neequaye`s 52nd minute opener for the hosts.
