Warwickian Minis welcome new players of any ability
Warwickian RUFC Minis welcomes boys and girls from age 5 years to 12 years. Feel free to turn up at a training session, ideally contact a member of staff below beforehand in case we have an away fixture.
We aim to be inclusive of new players to Warwickian and to rugby, and ensure every session is fun, safe and structured to maximise the development of each player and the teams as a whole. The season starts on the first Sunday in September and runs through to early May.
Minis are age groups U7 (Year 2) to U11 (Year 6). For insurance reasons, players can play matches after their 6th birthday. Confident 5 year olds are very welcome to join us for training. We play non-contact Tag Rugby at U7 and U8.
We play to the RFU Shaping the Game Pilot Rules in Warwickshire, introducing (limited) transitional contact progressively from U9 upwards.
Minis rugby is designed to introduce new elements of the game at each age group so players can have fun, develop and progress towards Junior rugby.
U7 4-a-side non-contact tag-rugby
U8 6-a-side non-contact tag-rugby
U9 7-a-side, introducing tackling only
U10 8-a-side, tackling and contact developed and introducing unopposed 3v3 scrums
U11 Consolidates the under-10 game and introduces kicking
U12 Consolidates the under-11 game
