Important Notice from the RFU

Peter Tolan from the Referees Society has informed me that he has been told that individuals from some clubs are posting messages on Facebook and other social networking/web forums commenting on their next opponents in derogatory and threatening terms and warning of what might happen in the game.

He has no hard evidence of this at the moment and I have asked him to obtain it if he can.

However at this stage I think it is only right for me to advise all clubs that if this is found to be happening the individuals (and possibly the club as well) can be disciplined by the RFU for bringing the game into disrepute.

I know that the RFU are drafting a policy on this but in the meantime please make sure all of your players and members are made aware that if they indulge in this practice it could cause a lot of problems for themselves and their club
