ANOTHER FINE WIN FOR NEWBOLD COLTS

Result January 21st: Coalville 10pts - Newbold 14pts

Two very evenly matched sides slugged it out on a very windy day although the elements other than the line outs did not effect the game. Territory and possession was very sparse for the travelling Newbold lads but to their credit they kept the larger Coalville pack and equally strong back line at bay. Constant wave after wave of attack repelled. A great clearance kick from Ethan Wookey gave the homeside’s full back chance to run back at us but fumbled the ball and Rory Blood pounced on the loose ball to run in the try from the half way line for Ethan to convert against the run of play. Strong homeside attack again falls short as Man of the Match Alfie Such grasps the loose ball to spin to Ed Scott run in from his own 10mtr and again Ethan converts 0-14 at the break.

Playing with the wind Coalville start to enforce pressure on the Newbold line however resolute defence keep the home side out until an unforced error gives Coalville a chance to finally run in the try they so rightly deserved. Pressure again from the home leads to a penalty from the 10mtr and with the very strong wind the ball sails just over to reduce the gap to 4 points with 10 mins to go. Resolute defence combined with equally strong running from both sides sees the final whistle on a very enthralling game. Despite conditions a great game of Colts Rugby.
