NEWBOLD LOSE THEIR 100% RECORD
Great test for Newbold against very strong opposition. Keith Fletcher reports:
Old Northamptonians Colts 43 V Newbold Colts 22
After the Christmas break Newbold travelled to Northampton wishing to start 2012 as they left 2011, alas it was evident from the start that a well drilled ON side were on top of their game. Although Newbold kept in touch throughout the 1st half, it wasn’t till the last 10 minutes until they really switched on. After letting in 3 very soft tries after the turn round this was to become telling in the grand scheme of the game. Newbold to their credit kept their heads up and drove over 3 unanswered tries of their own but the clock was against them. ON’s winning the 1st half gave Newbold the impetus to win the 2nd. A truly hard test for any opposition and credit goes to the ON’s coaches who have a very good side. A return fixture is very much in the offing back at Parkfield Road and hopefully another great game will be offered up.
