Wasps FC Colts 65-24 Harrow U18

Match report.
Wasp Colts Vs Harrow 15/10/17
On an amazing autumn morning the Colts U18 and &17’s combine for the first to play against a well organised Harrow rugby team that has in the past been a very tough opposition.
Wasps started off really well and played some great attacking rugby and continued to combine well and apply some great early pressure. The colts struck first and then went straight back on the attack at the kick off only to be pulled back for crossing to deny ourselves another try.
It is true to say the oppo settled into their game and defended well and started competing in the rucks and mauls. Hence at times the game lost some structure and a real dog fight of attack and defence by both sides took place. Harrow were able to return the pressure and themselves scored some well worked tries. Wasp used the width well and managed to finish off some strong direct running with great hands and dot down themselves. A strong half by Wasps. Half time score 29-12 to Wasps.
The second half started well for Wasps but again Harrow were able to get down and apply pressure to score. Midway thru the second half the impact players rotated on and kept the momentum flowing with showed some strong running and ball security. This heaped pressure on Harrow who were starting to tier and picked of some injuries, which came from applied pressure in the rucks and by some solid defence by everyone. Wasps pounced on every opportunity and took these well. Final score 65-24 to Wasps.
Some points of note.
Our mantra was for everyone to go out there and enjoy themselves. Support one another and to work on your own personal development, express yourselves on the pitch with some free style and unstructured rugby. This was clear and evident and it showed you are capable of playing ‘champagne’ rugby.
To those new players in your first Wasp match, very well done. You all blended in seamlessly as if you played for us already. Each and every one of you showed that you deserved to be part of this great bunch of boys and club.
To the older statesman of the team, well done and thank you for your leadership, cool heads and confidence in what was a totally different team from previous seasons. But this is how it will be going forward and it will require you all to help the transition with U17s and any new player.
Well done all.
