Wasps FC Ladies announce England No. 8, Harriet Millar-Mills, as new squad member

Wasps FC Ladies are delighted to welcome England No.8, Harriet Millar-Mills, to the squad. Following her performance in the Women’s Rugby World Cup, Harriet made the exciting move to Wasps to play in the Tyrrell’s Premier 15s competition.

“The biggest excitement entering the new season is playing for a new team and the funding and support provided to each time from the league should raise the standard of Women’s Rugby”

Harriet started playing Rugby at the age of 9 for Manchester Rugby Club and has since built up a wealth of experience playing for Chester, West Park Leeds, Waterloo Ladies and Lichfield Ladies. Making her debut for England in 2011 against France, Harriet now has 51 caps under her belt and last season was named Premiership player of the year for her performance with former club Lichfield.

If she wasn’t playing no.8, Millar-Mills fancies her chances in the backs at 9 or 15 and when likening herself to an animal on the field, Harriet compared herself to a fox.

“If I could compare myself to an animal on the field it would be a fox- I look like road kill after 5 minutes”

Perhaps if she pranced around in the backs at 15 instead of at the bottom of rucks in the forwards, the no.8 would compare herself to fox for reasons other than looking like road kill.

Despite the recent defeat to the Black Ferns in the world Cup, if it she had to choose another nation, Millar-Mills would head to the southern hemisphere. However, if it came to it she might just pack up her Rugby boots, trade them in for skis and take to the mountains.

“…I wouldn’t want to but if I could play for another nation it would be NZ, for the heritage and style of Rugby they play”

Lichfield Ladies were an opposing and well respected side in the former Women’s premiership with a host of talented players- we are honoured that Millar-Mills decided to make the move south and endeavour to make her right at home and support her as she develops in her Rugby career.

“It’s the club that’s most like Lichfield in terms of family values and enjoyment, that and Giselle is an incredible coach”
