Fans with tickets to the Singha Premiership Rugby 7s Series Final will also receive a glimpse of the country’s best women’s players in a landmark move

With support from the RFU, the eight Women’s Premiership clubs will be competing in their annual 7s competition at Broadstreet Rugby Club before the two finalists join the men at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 7 August.

The women’s final will also be televised on BT Sport for the first time in a move that vice-chair for the Women’s Premiership Group, and Bristol Ladies CEO, Heidi Chapman-Mercer expects to be a major boost for the game.

“For women’s rugby in general, the fact that such a large national organisation like Premiership Rugby wants us to get involved is fantastic,” she said.

“It’s great Premiership Rugby has identified that women’s rugby is really growing and is a sport to be watching.

“It’s about the platform it provides. Women’s rugby is very successful; England Women won the World Cup in 2014 and Wales and Ireland had successful campaigns within the 2016 Six Nations – we don’t want the Women's Premiership to unnoticed at such a pivotal time for women’s sport.

“For many of the players it will be a completely new experience. Some will have experience through internationals but most have never played with that many people watching. Though it’ll probably be a bit daunting, it’s a very exciting development.”

The two pools to play at Broadstreet Rugby Club have been drawn as:
