Thank you to the 67 people who completed the survey and the additional two people who submitted comments via email. We are very grateful to you for taking the time and effort to provide feedback. Whilst we would have welcomed a broader response, those of you who did have given us some great insights in how you currently feel about our club and the direction in which it is heading.
You strongly support the proposed Strategic Intent, the Aims and the Club values. You added some relevant comments to help our club become even more inclusive and to address environmental matters. We are pleased to include these issues in the final version. You also thought our club should make better use of its facilities, which the Board is keen to pursue to generate future income.
You would like more detail about how the Strategic Intent will be achieved and over the coming months the Board will share its thinking. If you have ideas, please tell us. Our club needs the contribution of all of us to be a success.
You told us that communication by our club is not consistently good. To improve this, a communication strategy will be developed which will include the use of social media. And at the time of writing we are developing a new website using the RFU’s platform. This will include improving information about membership and the membership application process.
Your preferred method of communication is email, supporting a Board decision taken a few years back to save funds on printing and postage. Please ensure that you provide our club with your up-to-date email address.
Whilst you agreed strongly that Waterloo is a great place for rugby, you want more work to be done so that members can feel part of the ‘Firwood Waterloo Community’. Some perceive there to be barriers between different playing sections. Your Board will reflect seriously on your comments and will develop initiatives to improve ‘the Waterloo experience’ and ‘the offer’ to members and the wider community. We will form a social committee and again, if you have ideas, please volunteer for the committee.
We will publish the club values (which you will see are those of the RFU) around the club and on the website to remind everyone of our obligations to each other and reinforce what it means to be part of the rugby family.
Although the survey is now closed, please keep your feedback coming. As we develop a new website we will include an area for feedback. Our club is keen to demonstrate that it is a member-driven club for all forms of rugby for all and our wider community.

Constitute a Social Committee to develop a programme of events that will include inter-section events. Such events are aimed at helping members and guests feel part of our ‘Firwood Waterloo Community’.

Publish our club’s values on entrance points, behind the bar and as a pitch-side hoarding to remind all of their responsibilities to live the values consistently and make a positive contribution to our ‘Waterloo experience’.
