Waterloo Ladies were crowned Lancashire County Champions for a third year following a triumphant victory over Ormskirk on Monday 7 May.
New Waterloo players were joined by seasoned veterans as a development team took to the field, defending the title with a 52-0 win at Fylde rugby club.
Waterloo dominated the game from the start but strong pressure from Ormskirk forced handling errors and although the first tries were scored within ten minutes it took the defending Champions most of the first half to get into their stride.
Benefitting from a fast back row, Waterloo were able to exploit the gaps created in the oppositions defence and the Blundellsands team pressed home this advantage.
The final score does not do Ormskirk justice and Waterloo did not walk away with the trophy, the challengers came close to scoring a number of times, creating a high-quality game of rugby enjoyed by the large number travelling supporters.
Waterloo’s team play won the game but the skill and ability demonstrated by the new girls offers a bright future for our team as we push for Premiership promotion next season.
Yes the girls....... never in doubt for 1 of the best teams int country......
