The infamous WRFC Beer Fest 7’s is almost upon us and the burning question on everyone’s lips… What exactly can you expect to see during the festival highlight, the fancy dress 7’s.
Expect flair. Drop goals. A completely inability / unwillingness to tackle anyone moving at anything other than a walk. Numerous substitutions in order to stay 'refreshed'. Referees looking to dish out yellow cards to claim their free drink from the transgressor. Port.
But, most importantly expect highly entertaining rugby played in the right spirit!
Well my intrepid friends, wonder no more for here are the runners and riders this weekend.
Big hair, bright clothes and the ability to rock your socks off. Focus is sure to be on entertainment rather than winning.. expect air guitar galore, funky strutting and glorious pouting. Here’s hoping this group are more than a one hit wonder…
Led by the incorrigible Roelfy Heffner, this team will be relying on flirtatious charm to win the day *shudder*. Worries about the dress code of the players at a family event are yet to be allayed, the censorship button is definitely at the ready.
Some people stand in the darkness…. Afraid to step into the light… Not this lot! Made up of friends of Watford Chess Valley, these boys are sure to be first on the scene should any injuries occur. Sprained ankle = mouth to mouth. Pulled muscle = mouth to mouth. Groin strain = mouth to mouth. Lengthy queue at the bar = mouth to… you get the picture.
Rumours that this team were never gonna dance again proved entirely false and showed all you needed was to have faith. Careless Whispers cost tries though, can we expect a leaky defence from this tribute to Bushey Meads finest?
Back, Sack and Michelak
I don’t even know what to make of this one, so lets go with the Michelak aspect. Expect Gallic flair galore from one of Frances more unpredictable players. Just as likely to go the length of the pitch as gloriously implode when the pressure is on.
Last and by no means least. A rat army lured to the festival by the dangerous tune of the pie-d piper of Watford. Thoughts of Pie’s rat are enough to make anyone sick, and if he asks you to play his pipe it’s strongly recommended you politely refuse and back away slowly.
7's tournament is from 13:30 this Saturday 15th July, all welcome!
