BARLA are pleased to announce that the BARLA National Youth & Junior Cups at Under 14. 16 and 18’s will take place once again in 2015.

The consultation process began after June’s finals to arrange dates that were acceptable for all parties, the players, clubs, administrators and respective league management committee’s in the North West Counties 13-15 League, North West Youth League, Yorkshire Juniors and West Cumbria Youth& Junior League with all giving an input and backing of the long standing competition.

Also taken into consideration was the RFL Under 16’s Scholarship agreed dates which are part of the RFL’s Embed the Pathway which will come into fruition in 2015.

The opening three rounds take place in January and February with a thirteen week break before the quarter finals are played. It will culminate with a triple header finals day on Saturday 11th July, so as not to disrupt any league games taking place the following day.

All teams in each respective age group are invited to enter the National Cup at a cost of £5 to BARLA affiliated teams and £10 for non BARLA affiliated teams. All entries and entry fees together with the club details, contact name, telephone number and email address should be sent to Phil Sharpe the BARLA Secretary Administrator, West Yorkshire House, 4, New North Parade, Huddersfield, HD 1 5JP.

The closing date for clubs to enter their respective age group BARLA National Cup will be Sunday 13th December with the draws taking place the following week.

BARLA Vice Chair Steve Manning,

“Since the end of this year’s BARLA Youth & Junior National Cups in June I have worked with the RFL’s National Community Competitions Manager David Butler on dates so that there are no clashes with the youth and junior leagues and the RFL Under 16’s Scholarship games that are played during the summer.

“Communication has been the key between all parties to make this work and the BARLA Youth & Junior National Cups are competitions that players and clubs want to play in to be crowned top side in the country. I hope all leagues will encourage their sides of whatever standard to enter so that they can dream of being giant killers and winners.

“We had three great finals last year one of which finished 1-0 to the winners, my wish is to make them bigger, brighter and better and this is the first step in a new era of communication between all parties.”
