Cumberland ARL Proposed Fixture Structure for the 2012 Season to be voted on at Monday 6th Feb league meeting 7pm @ Copeland Stadium


IGGESUND CUMBERLAND LEAGUE SEASON 2012

Proposed format:

Season start: Saturday 4th March to November 2012
There are 18 league weekends to fit in and between 28 and 31 weekends to play games. This doesn’t take into account any postponements etc. so there is a need to create matches, otherwise some clubs will have a few free weeks if they get knocked out in the first round of any cup.

The leagues will be made up as per the final finishing league positions of Season 2010/11 NOT THE TRUNCATED SEASON:
Division One: Broughton Red Rose, Cockermouth, Distington, Glasson Rangers, Hensingham, Kells,
Maryport, Seaton Rangers, Seaton Rangers A (Div II Champions), Wath Brow Hornets A.

Division Two: Aspatria Hornets, Clifton Lions, Ellenborough Rangers, Egremont, Flimby, Frizington,
Kells ‘A’, Glasson Rangers ‘A’, Lowca, Salterbeck, Salterbeck ‘A’,
’A’ team entries must be received NO LATER THAN
FRIDAY 10TH FEBRUARY 2012

Proposed season length: between 28 and 31 playing weeks long, with no league games to be played
in July or August.

Proposed cup competitions:
Amateur Cup – played using existing format (1st half of the season)
BARLA County Cup – played using existing format (2nd half of the season)
And one of three options for the Cumberland Cup.
Club’s to vote on one of the following options:

1) Play as existing straight knockout format, entry open to all first teams.

2) Straight knockout, but any teams knocked out in first round go into a Plate competition to
be played alongside the main competition, entry open to all first teams.

3) Split the competition, making the Cumberland Cup open to Division One teams only, and
Division Two clubs will play for the Cumberland Plate, there is an option to pool all the clubs knocked out in the opening rounds into a Shield competition

End of season knock-out competition:
Club’s to vote on one of the following options:

1) Play as existing Top Four competition in each league.

2) Play as Top Five in each league, with the winners playing the runners-up for a place in the
final, with the loser playing the lowest placed side at home.
