On behalf of the Kingstone Press National Conference League I would like to correct the erroneous report within Phil Hodgson’s column whereby he referred to Wath Brow attempting to rearrange their RFL Conference Challenge Trophy semi-final with Egremont due to players being on a “stag-do.”
This is totally incorrect and a call to myself as the NCL and CCT administrator would have clarified the situation.
The issue was that Wath Brow have an outstanding backlog fixture against Thatto Heath to fulfil, and Wath Brow suggested a switch of the Conference Challenge Trophy semi-final with local club Egremont to midweek, to facilitate Wath Brow’s trip to Thatto on a weekend and prevent a long mid-week journey which obviously causes problems for the players and club officials taking time off work and then returning back home very late.
The NCL and RFL were happy to do this, but Egremont were fully prepared for the Saturday clash and objected as it is their right to do.
The semi-final subsequently remained as scheduled and Wath Brow’s outstanding game against Thatto Heath will now be played on Wednesday August 19 with a 7.00pm kick off.
Kind Regards
