League Weekly’s Mathew Newton has sent us his latest predictions.

14th August 2014

In the Premier Division he’s backing leaders LOCK LANE to see off WIGAN ST PATRICKS, but the pace-setters will be kept on their toes by victories for SIDDAL and WEST HULL who should have too much for LEIGH MINERS RANGERS and HULL DOCKERS respectively.

He’s not expecting things to get much easier for WIGAN ST JUDES as he expects the bottom side to return from EGREMONT RANGERS empty handed, whilst THATTO HEATH CRUSADERS and WATH BROW HORNETS are tipped to have more success on their travels with wins at EAST LEEDS and HUNSLET WARRIORS.

In Division One DEWSBURY CELTIC should give their hopes of avoiding the drop a boost with two-points against lowly MILLOM, especially with fellow strugglers ECCLES and SADDLEWORTH RANGERS not expected to get anything from their contests with SHAW CROSS SHARKS and INCE ROSE BRIDGE despite having home advantage.

Top-two OULTON RAIDERS and ROCHDALE MAYFIELD will keep up their promotion march with victories over MYTON WARRIORS and MILFORD MARLINS, with NORMANTON KNIGHTS backed to triumph over mid-table rivals YORK ACORN.

Division Two leaders KELLS will increase their lead at the top with LEIGH EAST their latest victims and BRADFORD DUDLEY HILL can leapfrog Elland – who are without a game – and move second with a home success over CASTLEFORD PANTHERS.

Fourth-placed PILKINGTON RECS can apply a bit more pressure to the top-two with a win over ASKAM and OLDHAM ST ANNES can strengthen their mid-table position with win at bottom-side STANNINGLEY.

OVENDEN should also bounce back from their derby defeat to Elland with a comfortable 20-point triumph over WATERHEAD.

COVENTRY BEARS could be in for a long afternoon when Division Three leaders FEATHERSTONE LIONS arrive in town.

The Lions have not dropped a point so far this campaign and should have no trouble picking up a sixteenth straight win.

With Blackbrook out of action UNDERBANK RANGERS will surely cut the gap to second-place to just three points with a win over the Pennines at WOOLSTON ROVERS, whilst Mathew is tipping HEWORTH to pick up just their fifth win of the season with a narrow four-point success over HINDLEY.

Bottom-two PETERLEE PUMAS and EASTMOOR DRAGONS will meet with the Dragons backed to complete a league-double over the north east outfit
