Wath upon Dearne RUFC Colts continued the winning streak at the club beating Scunthorpe 40-0 with an explosive second half
performance. The first half left a lot to be desired as handling errors became the order of the day. Wath did show what they can do
as a strong rolling maul was finished off by lock Luke Stead. Both sides put together promising attacks bu they were consistently either
fumbled or defended well. Into the second half however and Wath showed what they can do going on to dominate well.
Wing Connor Powell impressed with a strong run down the wing that was only foiled by equally impressive tackling. Wath how ever pressed on, a
scrum won against the head by hooker Rich Shannon saw scrum half Josh Bird react the quickest and drive towards the line head first to go over.
Scunthorpes captain impressed making telling runs into the heart of the Wath defence but solid tackling by the centre pairing of Mike Smith and Tom Swann stopped any potential
attacking threats. Powerful work by back row Elliot Morgan and lock Chris Duffy saw Wath within inches of the line for replacement
hooker Adam Sixsmith to burrow his way over. Again the Wath forwards of Elliot Morgan, James Dobson and Luke Stead made telling runs into the Scunthorpe
22, the ball was recycled quickly and centre Tom Swann "boshed" his way over the line. With the bonus point secured Wath could have
let up, but much to the delight of the coaches they refused to. Prop Tom Price made a surging run down the wing but was dragged into touch on the 22 the resulting penalty for a high tackle
saw the Wath pack set up another maul and the Wath pack making impressive yards for Luke Stead to go over. The final try came for Adam Sixmsith again as the Wath backs made good yards and again another maul
resulted in another Wath try. Fly half Ashley Rothery had a good day with the boot for Wath to finish 40-0 victors in a highly entertaining second half. Man of the match went to centr Tom Swann.
