The reports as sent to the Farnham Herald...

Ebernoe

Batting first, Ebernoe lost wickets regularly to Waverley with Jamie Harris in superb form with the ball on this hard track. Matthieu Fauvet and George Stemp batted very well plundering the short boundary side with ease. For the visitors, David Stockwell produced his best bowling spell, taking 3-11 off 5 overs. All out with 149 on the board, the home side thought this was not enough and the travelling side believed that this total was not too difficult! At 3 for 6 in the 5th over the game was up, a different story being told as left arm over Andy Read, bowled a brilliant line and length. Ian Verrinder batting carefully was assisted by Jamie Harris and then Adrian Day for a while, but they couldn’t save the game. Waverley’s 5 ducks caused their downfall and Mark Gibbs’ accurate line for his 5 wickets saw his side romp home with ease. This wasn’t a 20 wicket track.

Pirbright

The storm clouds gathered as Jamie Harris bowled excellently on this lively pitch but was upstaged by Adrian Day taking out the first 4 Pirbright batsmen, all caught behind by Andy Minshaw. The visitors were soaked a couple of times but managed to stay out amidst some outfield grumblings. B Flanegan batted with authority for his double figures and 16 year old Ali Khan batted very well before the Skipper John Thompson wagged the tail and the home side’s innings ended on 95. After tea Waverley’s James Wright and Andy Minshaw scored well but not quickly enough for the weather, with 24 on the board after the 4th over, the heavens opened and the players scampered in. After a 15 minute break only one over was bowled, a maiden, the pitch unplayable. Thanks to Pirbright CC for making every effort to play.
