Terry takes charge
But Waverley fall short...
Purbrook’s Marsh and Lee batted well but slowly against the Waverley attack of S Brewer and Day and at the 16 over change there was only 45 on the board but neither looked like getting out. When the first wicket fell at 87 the run rate had picked up slightly but at Nelson and 3 wickets down the visitors were clearly on top but at this point Purbrook’s Bird and Bean took up the challenge and put on 87 in the final 10 overs.
After tea both of the home side bowlers picked up a wicket with their first ball and the visitors were soon reeling at 1-3. When Russ Golding came into bat he soon altered things placing boundaries at will but others failed to stay with him giving up their wickets too easily. The last pair of Golding and Laura Brewer put on 30 enabling Golding to claim his first ton for Waverley but a resounding defeat for his team.
