Hawley swept aside
Macca's ton and Stocky's five-for seal the deal...
Put into bat on this glorious afternoon, Hawley seemed vindicated with Waverley reeling at 2-27 until Andy McPherson joined Simon Brewer in a stand of 212 before a tired Brewer holed out on 81. This opened up a frenetic 5 overs with Ben Harris grabbing 3 wickets for 5 runs but not
that of McPherson who bashed a few more runs before Waverley’s innings ended on 258.
The home side's innings started fluently with Ben Harris and Ollie Short scoring freely until Harris played all around one from Du Gay with 36 on the board. At this point the visitors got the upper hand and never looked back taking wickets at regular intervals. J Adams put up a bit of a fight
but with the introduction of Sam Tempest and David Stockwell into the attack, all resistance fell and Stockwell finished with his first five wicket haul, Waverley needing only 28 overs.
Thanks to Mr B for the match report.
