Honours even at Frensham
Exciting game of cricket ends in draw
Electing to bat Waverley started reasonably well against the Frensham attack losing their first wicket at 41. Wright and Thorogood put on another 44 but then the home side bowlers bit and were on top at 145-7 with Frost, Baldock and Reynolds all bowling well. The visitors’ skipper du Gay and with father and son Knox lifted Waverley to an acceptable score and they declared at tea with 215 on the board.
Frensham scored slowly against W Knox and Tempest but at the change with a couple of wickets down Eastwood and Blythe made hay in the sunshine for a while. After the breakthrough but still well behind the run rate, Frost tried to up the scoring rate but this caused his demise to a stunning catch by Wright on the boundary. It was now downhill for Frensham but Baldock saw his side through to a draw and with two big 6’s in the last over.
Mog picked up the wAnchor hat, for forgetting to pick up his blazer for blazer day. Will yet again scooped the pink t-shirt for canoodling (when will he learn?), although there was also a mention for Troy for a questionable Facebook post. Man of the match hat went to Jim Jam for his excellent knock, and good fielding with a run out and catch.
Thanks to Mr B for the report.
