The rain it raineth
VIP tent saves Waverley from rain
The match against Elsted was abandoned at tea after rain set in and washed out any chance of further play. Prior to tea Waverley had batted against a generally youthful Elsted attack and openers Mongo (James Wright) and Beanie (Chris Beanland) had compiled a 100 run partnership despite an alternating habit of stealing the strike from each other. Mongo was the first wicket to fall but Tom Heighes picked up where the Skipper had left off and it took the experience of Wadey to rein in the run rate. Heighes also fell and after 25 overs of scoring Si Brewer had his chance to weigh in and get some runs, a pity then that he missed his first ball and was sent on his way LBW. Tom Wenham was then out on the last ball before Tea with Beanie undefeated.
During tea the rain arrived with a vengeance and despite waiting it showed no sign of abating and the oppo skipper changed out of his whites...
The above is probably true but I'm doing it from memory so some aspects may be wrong. Si being LB for a golden quacker is however absolutely what happened.
